Oricom HFS1000 Non-Contact Infrared Forehead Thermometer with colour coded reading

I brought this thermometer after reading the positive reviews on The Baby Industry and I am so glad I did. It’s SO simple to use and the colour coded led lighting when the temp is taken is great! I love that it is completely non contact so no waking or disturbing my baby when taking her temperature, which is a godsend after having a sick baby and not wanting to wake her! The Oricom HSF1000 can also be used to check room temperature, bath water temperature and even baby bottle temperatures making it useful for taking the temperature of just about anything. The fact that it’s non contact which making it 100% hygienic and can be used on something or someone immediately, no need to worry about spreading germs and viruses. Overall I think this is a must for any medicine cabinet due to its ease of use, great hygiene and multifunctionality. Highly recommend

Pros Fast! A temperature reading is given within a second of pressing the button. Great for those times in the middle of the night when you need a temperature reading asap! Non contact - you only have to point the thermometer at the temple or behind the ear. No more struggling to get a thermometer inside a baby’s mouth, under their arm or in their bum! You can even take the temperature of a sleeping baby! The non contact nature means it is hygienic and safe to use for multiple members of the family. Large screen - easily able to read the temperature reading Coloured display - the thermometer displays three different coloured screens depending on the reading. Green, Orange and Red. Again, great for those times in the middle of the night when you are half asleep trying to take your little one’s temperature. Other features - it is able to store previously recorded temperatures, and the temperature of “objects” ie bath water/baby bottles, comes with batteries and a hard case Price - at only $99 (and I have seen it on sale for cheaper), it saves a lot of frustration. We had already gone through two cheap $12 thermometers before we got this one. Cons Accuracy - I often get different readings for different sides of the head/locations behind the ear. They are still within half a degree so it’s nothing to really worry about. I have gotten into the habit of taking a few readings and then averaging them out. (which the instructions recommend anyway) Size - Its definitely bulkier than a normal digital probe thermometer and doesn’t fit as easily into my nappy bag and so I probably won’t take it around with me as much as I did the digital probe. Overall, this is a wonderful thermometer, and has already saved us lots of frustration and I would definitely recommend buying one for yourself or for another parent!

Let me just start by saying that if you are thinking about buying the Oricom HSD1000 Non-contact infrared thermometer than do yourself a favour and do it! Upon opening the box you will find the sleek easy to hold thermometer itself inside its protective case along with 2xAA batteries so your ready to use immediately, after reading the instructions I was absolutely amazed to find that this thermometer not only takes your body temperature but also has separate 'object' and 'room' temperature modes! The object mode is genius and can be used to measure bath water temperature or even baby bottle temperatures! Now my 2yo daughter happens to be absolutely terriefied of my old probe thermometer and won't let me put it anywhere near her whatsoever so taking her temperature when she has had a fever has been a nightmare, well, not anymore! I'm able to take her temperature without a wrestling match and can take her temp while she's asleep without worrying about waking her up since it's completely non-contact and I get a fast, accurate reading. Being completely non-contact means the oricom HSF1000 is completely hygienic so no chances of spreading virus germs between my 3 young kids. One of my favourite features would be the large backlit LCD display which is actually colour coded so you know quickly whether or not your child's temperature is normal or higher than normal. It is sooo easy to use, simply turn thermometer on by pressing the start button and hold the top of the thermometer 2-3cm away from the measurement point for example, forehead and hold the start button and you will have your measurement in less than 2 seconds! The oricom HSF1000 even automatically stores up to 32 previously recorded temperatures so no need to worry about remembering your child's previous readings! So simple and easy to use i have to convince my 2yo she doesn't need to take everyone's temperature 1520 times a day!
