Dreambaby Retractable Gate

I have 2 retractable gates installed at the bottom and top of the staircase. They are great when you need a barrier for a minimally trafficked area. If they are needed for a high traffic area, the constant pulling and retracting definitely proves to be time consuming and difficult especially when you are holding a little one. For our family and house, it suits just fine as the staircase is not frequently used during the day. One negative feature of this gate is definitely the installation process. It requires both sides to be drilled into a stud or solid flat wooden surface. We have needed to install each set at different angles to accommodate this so aesthetically, it may not always be perfect. Also, you will need to purchase ‘Spacers’ separately if installing on a skirting board. I found these difficult to get my hands one and ended up ordering through a third party. There are 2 ways of installing this dependent on your wall. We have both of ours using both ways. In summary, for something that is used a handful of times a day, it works great!

We wanted a gate across the kitchen, but not one that was there permanently. The retractable gate is perfect! When opened it’s completely out of the way which makes it good for high traffic areas and especially when we have to clean the floors. And even better - no more kicking my toe on metal frames!
