Great from newborn - six months
Reviewed on 24 September 2018
We purchased the Steelcraft Strider Compact in 2016 prior to the birth of our first child. We purchased brand new from Baby Bunting and did not wait for the sale so unfortunately paid the full retail price which at the time was $800+ for just the pram and main seat. One month after our son was born, family friends had moved their newborn out of the bassinet and onto the main seat of their pram. We were able to borrow the bassinet from them. Let me tell you, total game changer! Our son had colic, and would not sleep unless he was being held. However as soon as we put him in the bassinet attachment for our Strider Compact and rocked him backwards and forwards over a rope he was soon fast asleep! We continued to use the bassinet attachment with him until he was rolling and began to crawl at 5months old. When we had our second child in March 2018, one of the must haves for this bub was the bassinet attachment for our strider compact pram. We purchased it from baby bunting for $200. It is a very worthwhile purchase, because even at six months old we are still using it daily with this bub as she is not crawling yet and still fits length wise! The bassinet is a very generous size, it has enough space for bub to stretch out in even up to 5/6 months! All of the parts are easily cleanable which has been a life saver for us as both of our babies have been colicky/reflux babies so lots of baby vomit! We used a mattress protector over the foam mattress, and laid a terry towel cloth on top for extra protection. The sun shade cover is sizeable and covers bub well from the harsh Aussie sun, especially when combined with the foot muff cover. Having had a winter baby, the foot muff was excellent at stopping the winds from chilling bub and keeping warmth in. The sun shade is able to be zipped off leaving a bar above bubs head, I used this to hang toys off of, so that bub could be entertained whilst I cared for her older brother. Because bub was safe on her back I felt comfortable leaving her in the bassinet attachment if she fell asleep whilst on a walk to the park or even at home. I would highly recommend the bassinet attachment as a must have for any parents who have the Strider Compact and intend to use it for their newborn baby. I am very happy with this purchase. It is also worth mentioning that the bassinet attachment holds its value very well, and can be on sold on Facebook groups for $100-$150 which is a complete bargain considering if used daily for six months works to to cost $1.10 a day roughly or if resold for $100 would end up only costing $0.55 cents a day!
